Who We Are
The ACT Deafness Resource Centre (DRC) is a non-profit community organisation providing information regarding deafness and hearing impairment to service providers, Government departments and the wider community.

What We Do
The DRC aims to provide a service to all people with a hearing impairment, deafness or chronic disorder of the ear in the ACT and surrounding hinterland.
We hope to improve the effect of their hearing loss on their everyday lives, by information, advice, guidance, personalised assistance with our Drop-In service, and advocacy services to break down the barriers of communication.
A key goal is to ensure everyone receives equal access to services and opportunities which enable deaf and hearing impaired people to live independently within the community.

Hearing Aider Program
The Hearing Aider Program provides basic hearing aid care to residents of selected nursing homes and retirement villages. This pilot program is being developed and is already running in a number of locations. Listening and Communications Technology Room The DRC has a Listening and Communications Technology Room emonstrating our wide range of Assistive Listening Devices available for hire/purchase. This equipment covers a variety of budgets, and is tailored to suit the needs of the hearing impaired across all ages and life situations.
Staff are on-hand to provide an individual assessment, demonstrate devices. We also provide information to assist you in making an informed choices appropriate to your individual needs.
A loan service is also available, so please ask about this when you come in.
Hearing Loop Installation
We carry out inspections of the home and workplace to install a hearing loop system. A hearing loop is able to be used by all visitors and occupants of a public building, workplace or other venue that have a hearing aid or cochlear implant.
Hearing loop installation in the home is available for homeowners requiring assistance with understanding the television, or to better facilitate family social occasions.

Drop-In Service
The ACT Deafness Resource Centre offices in Holder, are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4:45pm. We are able to assist with any visitors seeking to drop-in and find out about our resources, get some advice, have a look at the Assistive Listening Devices, and gather information from our brochure wall on various services and products available in the community.

Business Presentations and Hearing Awareness Training
As part of our mission to break down communication barriers and provide information and assistance, we provide business presentations by appointment and arrangement. We also offer Hearing Awareness Training courses, which can be specifically tailored to suit the needs of the clients.
Our previous clients include: Commonwealth Agencies, Employers, Education Programs and Government Departments.
